Mosque Project - Cilacap, Indonesia

In Cilacap, Indonesia, a beloved yet aging mosque stood as a symbol of community and faith. But
as the congregation grew, so did the need for a more spacious, modern space that could
accommodate the future while honoring its roots. Geometry Studio was called upon to renovate the
mosque, transforming the old, smaller structure into a two-story sanctuary that blended tradition
with contemporary design.
The vision was clear: preserve the mosque’s essence, while adapting it to the needs of a growing
community. The design focused on creating open, airy spaces that allowed for both tranquility and
connection. The addition of a second story expanded its capacity, offering more room for prayer
and reflection. Sleek, modern elements—clean lines, glass windows, and a subtle blend of
traditional materials—refined the mosque's aesthetic, making it both timeless and forward-looking.
The result was more than just a renovation; it was a revitalization. The mosque now stood as a
modern beacon of faith in Cilacap, where history and progress harmoniously coexisted for
generations to come.
